Just one week removed from the Wisconsin Badgers' loss to Denver in the National Championship game, Montgomery has already reached an AHL milestone.

Just one week after the Wisconsin Badgers' heartbreaking loss in the National Championship game, former freshman standout Blake Montgomery is already making waves in the professional ranks. Montgomery, who recently signed an entry-level NHL contract, has quickly proven his readiness by scoring his first AHL goal.

Assigned to the Belleville Senators, the Edmonton Oilers' AHL affiliate, on an Amateur Tryout Agreement, Montgomery didn't waste any time making an impact. In a game on April 17, with the Senators leading 1-0 in the third period, Montgomery found the back of the net to double their lead, officially recording his first professional milestone.

While Badgers head coach Mark Johnson would have undoubtedly loved another season with the talented forward, Montgomery's immediate success validates his decision to turn pro. In a notable feat, he has become the first player from this year's wave of departing Wisconsin stars to light the lamp in the AHL as the 2025-26 season concludes, signaling a promising start to his professional hockey journey.
