Former Patriots linebacker Anfernee Jennings is making a strong pitch to bring Stefon Diggs to the Big Easy. After Diggs was cleared of all legal charges earlier this week, the veteran wide receiver is actively searching for his next NFL home—and Jennings wants him in New Orleans.
Diggs, who was released by the New England Patriots early in the offseason after a one-season stint, took to Instagram on Wednesday to make his case. Posting a highlight reel from his 2024 campaign, he wrote: "This is not an opinion-based sport, so here are the numbers. I played 52% of the snaps and finished with 85 catches for 1,045 yards coming off an ACL. Where we going?"
The response from the NFL community was immediate. Among the comments was a simple but telling "Who Dat" from Jennings, his former Patriots teammate. Jennings, who spent five seasons in New England before signing a one-year deal with the Saints in April, clearly sees Diggs as a missing piece.
And it's easy to see why. The Saints already boast a talented young receiving corps with Chris Olave and rookie Jordan Tyson, the No. 8 overall pick in this year's draft. Adding a proven veteran like Diggs—who has six 1,000-yard seasons on his résumé—could be the perfect recipe for success. Not only would he provide immediate production, but his experience could be invaluable in mentoring Tyson as he adjusts to the pro game.
The Saints are in a winnable NFC South division and have a young quarterback who could benefit from a reliable target like Diggs. If he's willing to sign a short-term deal, this could be a match made in football heaven. With his legal hurdles behind him and a standout season fresh off an ACL injury, Diggs has proven he still has plenty left in the tank. Now, it's just a matter of finding the right fit.
