Tim Adams isn't wasting any time getting back on the sidelines. Just weeks after stepping down as boys basketball coach and assistant athletic director at Park Tudor, he's been named the new head coach at Bishop Chatard, a move that signals a fresh start for both the coach and the program.

"The biggest thing that appealed to me was that when I met with the administration, our vision aligned on and off the floor," Adams said. "We want to win in the classroom, in the community, and on the court. The standard is for them to leave as better young men than when they arrived. The community and family at Chatard is second to none—something I've missed the last couple of years."

Adams brings a winning pedigree to the Trojans. During his eight seasons at Park Tudor, he compiled a 115-66 record, capturing two sectional championships and a regional title. While Chatard doesn't share the same recent basketball tradition, there's momentum building. After back-to-back winning seasons in 2021-22 and 2022-23, the Trojans hit a rough patch with three straight losing campaigns, including an 8-16 mark last year. But the team showed fight down the stretch, winning four of their final five games before a narrow 66-62 loss to Crispus Attucks in the Class 3A sectional semifinal.

Adams inherits a roster with plenty of experience. Key returners include guard Ari Sahm, who averaged 15.2 points and 5.1 rebounds, and 6-foot-9 forward Zach McCormack, who put up 10.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. "I know them from coaching against them the last couple of years," Adams said. "Some of the faces I saw when I met with them were familiar. We'll be a veteran team mixed in with some youth as well."

A Cathedral graduate who grew up playing in the Catholic Youth Organization at St. Pius X, Adams is eager to rebuild connections within the feeder programs. "That's what I was," he said. "I went to St. Pius and Cathedral, attended those camps and clinics, and played in those gyms as a younger player. There are a lot of connections we still have in those gyms, and it will be a huge positive for us to retain those kids."

With a hungry coach and a veteran squad, Bishop Chatard is ready to turn the page. Adams is driven by one clear goal: building a program that competes with purpose, on and off the court. And for a team looking to rise again, that's exactly the kind of leadership they need.
