Tim Adams isn't wasting any time getting back on the sidelines. Just weeks after stepping down as boys basketball coach and assistant athletic director at Park Tudor, the veteran coach has found a new home at Bishop Chatard, a move that signals a fresh start and a shared hunger for success.
"The biggest thing that appealed to me about Chatard is that when I met with the administration, our vision aligned on and off the floor," Adams said. "We want to win in the classroom, in the community, and on the court. The standard is for these young men to leave better than when they arrived. The community and family at Chatard are second to none—something I've missed the last couple of years."
Adams brings a winning pedigree to the Trojans. During his eight seasons at Park Tudor, he compiled a 115-66 record, capturing two sectional championships and one regional title. While Chatard hasn't enjoyed the same recent basketball success—coming off three straight losing seasons, including an 8-16 mark last year—the program showed signs of life in 2023-24. Under second-year coach Matt Boling, the Trojans won four of their final five games before falling 66-62 to Crispus Attucks in a hard-fought Class 3A sectional semifinal.
Adams inherits a roster loaded with experience. Key returners include guard Ari Sahm, who averaged 15.2 points per game, and 6-foot-9 forward Zach McCormack, who posted 10.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest. "I know them from coaching against them the last couple of years," Adams noted. "Some of the faces I saw when I met with them were familiar. We'll be a veteran team mixed with some youth as well."
As a Cathedral graduate who grew up playing in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) at St. Pius X, Adams understands the importance of grassroots development. He plans to strengthen ties with local feeder programs to build a sustainable pipeline of talent. "That's what I was," Adams said. "I went to St. Pius and Cathedral, attended those camps and clinics, and played in those gyms as a younger player. We still have connections in those gyms, and retaining those kids will be a huge positive for us."
For Bishop Chatard, the hire signals a commitment to building a winning culture—one that starts with relationships, hard work, and a clear vision for success both on and off the court. Adams is ready to lead the charge.
