Former Oregon Ducks center Ege Demir has found a new home, committing to Duquesne University after just one season in Eugene. The 6-foot-11, 275-pound big man announced his decision via Instagram, marking the latest move in a busy transfer portal season for Oregon's basketball program.

Demir arrived at Oregon with an impressive international background, having played multiple seasons as a reserve in the Turkey Basketball Super League. However, his time with the Ducks was cut short by a season-ending shoulder injury, limiting him to modest averages of 2.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in a backup role.

Now, the Nigerian native brings his size and experience to the Dukes, who finished seventh in the Atlantic 10 Conference last season with an 18-15 record. Duquesne's frontcourt lacked a true center presence last year—no player at the position averaged more than six minutes per game—making Demir an immediate fit to provide heft and depth on the frontline.

Demir's departure is part of a significant roster shakeup for Oregon, which has seen seven players enter the transfer portal. His exit leaves a massive void at center, especially with senior Nate Bittle exhausting his eligibility. While the Ducks haven't yet added a true center through the portal, they've secured commitments from forwards Andrew Meadow (Boise State) and Taylor Bol Bowen (Alabama), both capable of contributing down low. Sean Stewart, who occasionally played small-ball center last season, also returns to the roster.

Demir becomes the sixth former Duck to land at a new school, joining Jackson Shelstad (Louisville), Kwame Evans Jr. (Villanova), Dezdrick Lindsay (Kansas State), Jamari Phillips (Washington State), Devon Pryer (Texas-Rio Grande Valley), and JJ Frakes (Buffalo). As the college basketball landscape continues to shift through the transfer portal, Demir's move to Duquesne offers a fresh start and a chance to make a significant impact in the A-10.
