For Ohio State fans, the kicking game has been a source of anxiety for years. From Noah Ruggles' heartbreaking miss in the 2022 Peach Bowl against Georgia to critical misses in big games against Oregon, Indiana, Miami, and Michigan, Buckeye Nation has learned to hold its breath whenever a kicker takes the field.
No player has felt that pressure more than Jayden Fielding. The former Ohio State kicker brought a confident swagger to Columbus, once claiming he felt comfortable from 60 yards out. But inconsistency on routine kicks made him a polarizing figure among fans. When Fielding announced he was moving on, many Buckeye supporters breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Now, Fielding is getting a fresh start north of the border. After going undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, he's signed a professional contract with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League. He'll compete for the starting kicker job in Canada's capital.
It wasn't all struggles for Fielding in Columbus, though. He delivered when it mattered most in the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship Game, drilling a 33-yard field goal to seal the win over Notre Dame. During his Buckeye career, he converted 45 of 57 field goal attempts and ranks fifth in program history with 313 career points.
For Ohio State fans looking to rep their Buckeye pride while watching Fielding's CFL journey, a fresh jersey or hoodie might be just what you need to show support for former players making their mark in professional football.
