The Wisconsin Badgers women's basketball program just landed a major talent from within the Big Ten. Former Iowa Hawkeyes starter and five-star high school prospect Addie Deal has announced her transfer to Madison, declaring "ALL INNN!! Go Badgers, baby!" on Instagram.
Standing at 6-foot, the California native brings intriguing potential to the Badgers' backcourt. Her freshman season at Iowa was a mix of opportunity and adjustment; an injury pushed her into the starting lineup for three games, though her role fluctuated. She finished the year averaging 5.1 points and 1.6 assists in 15.5 minutes per game.
But the stats only tell part of the story. Deal's potential shines through in her standout performances against top-tier competition. She announced herself with a 20-point career-high explosion against No. 12 Ohio State and also scored 11 points against powerhouse No. 2 UCLA, proving she can rise to the occasion.
Deal's commitment is part of a significant roster-building day for first-year head coach Robin Pingeton. Just hours earlier, the Badgers secured a commitment from Kadidia Toure, the NEC Player of the Year who averaged a double-double last season. These two additions signal a clear and ambitious intent to elevate the Wisconsin program's competitiveness in a tough conference.
For Badgers fans, Deal represents a high-upside player with proven scoring ability against elite teams. Her development under Coach Pingeton's system will be a key storyline as Wisconsin looks to make waves in the Big Ten.
