The NFL's offseason carousel is spinning, and a former Clemson Tiger is on the move. In a notable defensive line swap, the Atlanta Falcons have traded defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for fellow DT Maason Smith, as first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Orhorhoro, a second-round pick (35th overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft, spent just two seasons in Atlanta. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound lineman appeared in all 17 games last season, recording 25 tackles and 3.5 sacks. His departure comes amid a regime change for the Falcons, who parted ways with head coach Raheem Morris and GM Terry Fontenot after another 8-9 campaign.
The trade sends Orhorhoro to a familiar environment in Jacksonville, where he'll reunite with former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence, coming off a strong 4,000-yard season, led the Jaguars to an AFC South title in 2024. Orhorhoro will look to bolster a defensive front aiming for a deeper playoff run after a narrow Wild Card loss to Buffalo.
During his collegiate career under Dabo Swinney, Orhorhoro was a force on the interior. Over five seasons and 53 games at Clemson, he amassed 88 total tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks, showcasing the disruptive talent that made him a high draft selection. Now, with a fresh start in Jacksonville, he gets a chance to reignite his career alongside a fellow Tiger legend.
