In an electrifying five-set showdown that had fans on the edge of their seats, two former University of Wisconsin volleyball stars—Mimi Colyer and Carter Booth—captured the Major League Volleyball (MLV) Championship with the Dallas Pulse in the team's very first season.
The Pulse, who call the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas, home, joined the MLV as the league's eighth expansion team this year. And what a debut it was. Colyer, fresh off being named the 2026 MLV Outside Hitter of the Year and a unanimous All-League First Team selection, led the league in points, points per set, kills, and kills per set. Her dominant play was a key reason Dallas reached the finals.
Booth, a two-time AVCA All-American middle blocker who started her college career at Minnesota before transferring to Wisconsin, provided a formidable presence at the net. Together, the Badgers duo helped the Pulse overcome a 2-1 deficit against the Omaha Supernovas in the championship match. The final scores: 20-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-13, and 15-9. Dallas outscored Omaha 40-22 in the final two sets, marking the first time in MLV history that a fifth set decided the champion.
In the title match, Colyer contributed 11 points, 10 kills, and six digs, while Booth attempted just one serve but made her presence felt in other ways. The victory was especially sweet for the Pulse, who proved that a first-year franchise can compete with the best.
For volleyball fans and Wisconsin faithful, this championship is a testament to the talent coming out of the Badgers program. Whether you're wearing your favorite college gear or gearing up for your own matches, stories like these remind us that hard work and teamwork always pay off.
