Me'Arah O'Neal, the daughter of Shaquille O'Neal, made the decision to leave Florida and enter the NCAA transfer portal.

The NCAA women's basketball transfer portal just welcomed a major name. Me’Arah O’Neal, daughter of NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal, has announced her decision to leave the University of Florida and explore new opportunities for her collegiate career.

O’Neal, a former McDonald’s All-American, just wrapped up her sophomore season as a full-time starter for the Gators. In a heartfelt social media post, she expressed gratitude for her time in Gainesville while looking ahead. "After a lot of thought and intentionality with my next steps, I’ve made the decision to enter the transfer portal," she wrote. "With faith and high expectations, I’m ready to power forward."

Her decision comes on the heels of a coaching change at Florida, with head coach Kelly Rae Finley being replaced after the season. On the court, O’Neal is coming off a strong year where she averaged 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, including a stretch of double-doubles in her first three games and an SEC Co-Player of the Week honor in December.

Given her pedigree, proven talent, and high-profile status as a former elite recruit, O’Neal is expected to be one of the most sought-after players in the portal. As she seeks a new program to call home, all eyes will be on where this next chapter of her promising basketball journey leads.
