Eric Garcia has emerged as FC Barcelona's ultimate utility player this season, seamlessly slotting into multiple roles across the pitch as the team's needs shift. But it's his surprising rise at right-back that's turning heads—and according to manager Hansi Flick, it's where Garcia will shine as the first-choice starter next season.

For years, Barcelona has struggled to find a natural right-back, relying on Jules Kounde to fill the void. Yet, in a telling move, Flick started Garcia at right-back in the title-winning El Clásico against Real Madrid, even with Kounde fully fit. That decision wasn't a fluke—it was a clear vote of confidence from the new boss.

As reported by SPORT, Garcia's versatility has been one of Barcelona's biggest positives this season. Flick sees the Spaniard as more than just a fill-in; he's the anchor for the right flank moving forward. While Garcia will still provide cover in other positions, his primary role will be as a starting right-back, a role that highlights his grit and leadership on the field.

This doesn't spell the end for Kounde, but it does signal a shift in priorities. Flick values Garcia's tenacity and football IQ, and the extra minutes next season will reflect that trust.

But Garcia and Kounde aren't the only options in the pipeline. Young La Masia graduate Xavi Espart has impressed in limited appearances, making a strong case for more rotational minutes next season. The management is pleased with his development, and he's poised to play a bigger role.

Meanwhile, Hector Fort is another name to watch. Currently on loan at Elche, his return could add further depth. Whether the management has him in their long-term plans remains to be seen, but for now, Garcia's rise at right-back is the story that's capturing attention at Camp Nou.
