Barcelona coach Hansi Flick confirmed on Tuesday that he has signed a new two-year contract with the club, with an option for a third season."I think many coaches would be very happy to sign a three, four or five-year contract, but in this case, with Barca, I think it's good to keep it limited and I appreciate that.

Barcelona fans, you can breathe easy: Hansi Flick is staying put. The German tactician confirmed Tuesday that he has inked a fresh two-year contract with the Blaugrana, complete with an option for a third season. This news comes hot on the heels of Barcelona clinching their second consecutive La Liga title on Sunday with a commanding 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday's league clash with Alaves, the 61-year-old couldn't hide his satisfaction. "Obviously I'm very happy; it gives me the confidence to keep working for another year or two," Flick said. He acknowledged the unique nature of his deal, noting, "I think many coaches would be very happy to sign a three, four or five-year contract, but in this case, with Barca, I think it's good to keep it limited and I appreciate that. We'll continue until 2028. If all goes well, we'll decide to carry on. I have the right to stop, and so does the club."

Since arriving in the summer of 2024, Flick has turned Barcelona into a domestic powerhouse. In just two seasons, his trophy cabinet boasts two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups—a haul that would make any coach proud. Yet, the one prize that has slipped through his fingers is the Champions League, the very competition he conquered in 2020 with Bayern Munich.

This season, Barcelona's European dreams were dashed by Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals, following last year's heartbreaking 7-6 aggregate loss to Inter Milan in the semi-finals. But Flick is undeterred. "It's also a commitment on our part to work even harder than we did this season, if that's possible, and to continue reaching the highest possible level with the team, achieving new goals and winning new titles," he declared. "This is important for Barca, because everyone has this dream of winning the Champions League. We've tried, we'll try again, and that's all I can say."

For fans and players alike, Flick's extension signals a clear message: the journey is far from over, and the quest for European glory continues. As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on Camp Nou to see if this squad can finally add that coveted Champions League star to their growing collection of silverware.
