The Monroe County Region girls basketball season showcased some incredible individual talent, with Summerfield's Jaeli Jones proving she's far more than a scorer. Already established as a dominant rebounder, Jones expanded her game this year to become the region's premier playmaker, averaging a commanding 5.2 assists per game.

Her development as a passer was a strategic masterstroke. "When teams press up on Jaeli, she becomes more of a guard," explained Summerfield coach Mickey Moody. "We talked about getting her teammates involved more, and she embraced that role. It opened up her own game and made her even more dangerous." This well-rounded skillset is why she's headed to continue her career at Schoolcraft College.

Jones didn't just distribute the ball; she also cleaned the glass, leading the region with 11.8 rebounds per game. On the scoring front, Flat Rock's Madleen Hussein captured the scoring crown with an average of 19.3 points per game, just ahead of Airport's Sophia Mator (17.0) and Jones herself, who ranked fourth at 16.3.

Hussein was a force on both ends of the court, also topping the charts in steals (4.5 per game) and free-throw percentage (71.2%). Meanwhile, Sophia Mator of Airport was the region's most prolific sharpshooter, draining a remarkable 63 three-pointers.

Looking to the future, Ida freshman Ella Curry made a huge splash, leading all players in field-goal percentage (54.9%) and blocked shots (44), signaling the arrival of a new defensive anchor. These standout performances highlight the depth of skill and exciting future of basketball in the Monroe County Region.
