Even when the NFL hits a quiet stretch, the action never truly stops. And on a slow weekend like this one, there's no better way to fill the downtime than by diving into a good book.
Now, I won't pretend to know whether my own books are any good—that's for you to decide. But if you're the kind of fan who reads my daily posts here, there's a solid chance you'll enjoy something that takes a little more time to sink into.
And here's the best part: the price is right. While everything else seems to be getting more expensive, I've kept all my ebooks at just 99 cents each. For the price of that fancy $9 cup of coffee, you could grab all four of my books and still have change left over for a regular coffee and maybe a cookie or two.
Let me give you a quick rundown. My latest, Big Shield, dives into how legalized gambling can spiral into major trouble for a fictional (wink, wink) pro football league. The Father of Mine series—Father of Mine and Son of Mine—tells a small-town mob story inspired by the very real crew that ran the town where I grew up. And if you're looking to rediscover the Christmas spirit a few months late (or just love a good ghost story), there's On Our Way Home.
But I'm not stopping there. A third Father of Mine book is in the works, along with five or six more projects (I've honestly lost count) that should be ready while I'm still on the right side of the grass. Right now, I'm working on a collection of short stories that bounce through different horror subgenres—five down, five to go. I've also rewritten my very first fiction attempt, Quarterback of the Future, from scratch. The plan is to release it around November 1, marking the 25th anniversary of PFT's launch. (My internet son, PFT Commenter, is already counting down the days.)
Plans are always changing, which is just a fancy way of saying I'm not always sure what to do with all these projects. But I make it a point to spend two hours every night writing something. After all, in the NFL and in life, the game never really stops—it just changes pace.
