Lewis Ferguson's agent has opened up about the Scotland international's future, revealing the midfielder is "happy" at Bologna but "ready" to take the next step in his career. The 26-year-old, who has been a key figure for the Serie A side since joining in 2022, is reportedly open to moves to any of Europe's top-five leagues, with Serie A and the English Premier League as his "primary options."
Ferguson has had a mixed second season under coach Vincenzo Italiano, scoring just one goal in 42 appearances across all competitions. Despite the dip in form, his stock remains high, especially after captaining Bologna to a historic Coppa Italia victory last season—a moment that cemented his place in the club's history.
"Lewis has two years left on his contract," agent Bill McMurdo told TMW. "We'll soon meet with the club to see whether they want to offer him a contract extension or let him go." McMurdo emphasized that Ferguson is "more than ready" to play for a top Italian club or test himself in the Premier League, adding that the midfielder "wants to play at the highest possible level to continue improving."
Since his €2 million move from Aberdeen in 2022, Ferguson has become a fan favorite at the Stadio Dall'Ara, racking up 15 goals and six assists in 132 appearances. His current deal runs until June 2028, with Bologna holding an option to extend by another year. As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on whether the Rossoblu look to cash in or build around their captain for the long haul.
