The Chicago Wolves beat the Texas Stars 5-4 after overtime to level the Central Division Series 1-1 in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The Chicago Wolves and Texas Stars delivered a heart-stopping Game Two of the Central Division Semifinals, with the Wolves emerging victorious 5-4 in overtime to even the series at 1-1 in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The action started at a blistering pace, as Texas forward Matthew Seminoff found the back of the net just 44 seconds into the game from an impossibly sharp angle. But Chicago responded with a dominant 8-0 shooting run over nearly eight minutes, capped by defenseman Juuso Valimaki's power-play goal to tie it up. The Stars wouldn't be outdone, roaring back with a 4-0 shooting surge of their own, highlighted by defenseman Michael Karow's goal to regain the lead. The Wolves answered with a quick 2-0 run, and Cal Foote buried one to make it 2-2. Texas closed the first period with a 5-0 shooting spree in the final four minutes, including a Curtis McKenzie goal that put the Stars up 3-2 heading into the break.

The second period was more measured, with just 15 combined shots, but Chicago made their eight count. Noel Gunler scored, and Valimaki added his second of the night to give the Wolves a 4-3 lead. However, Texas's Ellis Rickwood struck just over two minutes later to tie the game for the third time at 4-4.

The third period saw three power-play opportunities—one for Chicago, two for Texas—but neither team could break the deadlock, sending the game into overtime. In the extra frame, the Wolves dominated, outshooting the Stars 7-3 over 10:27. The pressure built shift by shift, and it was AHL All-Star defenseman Domenick Fensore who delivered the game-winner on the final shot of a relentless sequence, sending the series back to Chicago deadlocked.

In net, Chicago's Cayden Primeau stopped 25 of 29 shots (0.862 save percentage), while Texas's Remi Poirier turned aside 26 of 31 (0.839). With the series now tied, the Wolves have all the momentum heading into Game Three.
