Meet Emilee DePetro, a standout senior from Northern Cambria who is making waves both on the track and in the classroom. At just 18 years old, Emilee has already left an indelible mark on her school's athletic programs, excelling in volleyball and track and field.
On the track, Emilee's resume is nothing short of impressive. She has signed to join the Seton Hill University team and is a 2026 Heritage Conference champion in the 200-meter, 400-meter, and 1600-meter relay events. Add to that a 2025 all-Heritage Conference selection, an underclassmen award, and a program record in the 400-meter dash—and it's clear she's a force to be reckoned with. In volleyball, she earned a 2025 District 6 Class 1A second-team selection and helped her team reach the 2024 District 6 Class 1A runner-up finish.
Her coach, Jennifer Zeanchock, couldn't be prouder: "Emilee is one of our most dedicated and hard-working athletes. She gives her full effort at every practice and meet, consistently showing a positive attitude and willingness to push herself. She actively seeks opportunities to improve, often asking what more she can do to elevate her performance. This season, she took on a new event and has continued to challenge herself to get better with each race. Emilee leads by example, setting a high standard for her teammates through her work ethic and commitment. She is a true leader and outstanding athlete, and we are incredibly proud to have her as a Colt."
Off the field, Emilee is just as dynamic. Her favorite teacher is Mr. McKee (English), and she loves to unwind with Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocketful of Sunshine." When she's not training, you'll find her swimming, hanging out with friends, or watching football with her dad. If she could be any animal, she'd choose a dolphin—because who wouldn't want to swim in the ocean?
Emilee's athletic inspiration comes from Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, but the most influential person in her career is her dad. "He always pushes me to my fullest potential," she says. Her proudest achievement? Breaking the program record in the 400-meter dash—a moment that encapsulates her relentless drive.
Interestingly, Emilee's journey into track started almost by chance. "I one day decided I needed something to do during the spring my sophomore year, so I tried track," she recalls. That spontaneous decision has led to a bright future. Looking ahead, Emilee dreams of becoming a successful physician assistant, living in a nice house with her family, and—most importantly—buying season tickets for her dad and herself to all the Eagles games.
From the track to the volleyball court, Emilee DePetro is a true role model for young athletes everywhere. We can't wait to see what she accomplishes next.
