MIAMI GARDENS — The Miami Dolphins selected Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez on Friday night in the second round with the 43rd pick of the NFL draft.
Comment: Rodriguez, who finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting, is a gritty, skilled, hungry football player who makes plays all over the field as you can tell by his 128 tackles, 7 FF (forced fumbles, which led FBS), 4 INTs, 6 PBUs…his leadership skills stand out even on a defense studded with NFL-caliber talent…Rodriguez will provide ILB training camp competition for returning starter Tyrel Dodson to play alongside All Pro ILB Jordyn Brooks, a fellow Texas Tech product…he’s a three-down player…his wife, Emma, is an Army helicopter pilot who is stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas…his moustache, which started as a joke but was embraced by his wife, is a trademark symbol that was treasured by the Texas Tech community.
