The Florida A&M Rattlers' impressive six-game winning streak came to a jarring halt on Wednesday afternoon. Traveling to face the Troy Trojans at Riddle-Pace Field, the Rattlers were handed a decisive 12-2 run-rule loss in just seven innings, a tough result after building significant momentum.

FAMU's offense was stifled, managing only four hits compared to Troy's nine. Jay Campbell, Justen Crews, Caden Kresak, and Colton Ryals provided the lone bright spots with a hit apiece. On the mound, the Rattlers cycled through seven pitchers, with Karson Lindsey taking the loss after a challenging inning of work.

Despite the setback, a crucial silver lining remains for the Rattlers. Their perfect run within the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) is still alive. All six of those recent victories came against SWAC foes, including commanding sweeps of Alabama State and Prairie View A&M. This resilience will be immediately tested as FAMU, now 15-15 overall, remains locked in a three-way tie for first place in the SWAC with Bethune-Cookman and Texas Southern, all boasting 10-2 conference records.

The focus now shifts to a pivotal road series that will test their championship mettle. FAMU travels to face Jackson State this weekend for a critical three-game set from Friday through Sunday. How the team bounces back from this defeat could define their season, making this upcoming conference clash a must-watch for Rattler fans.
