WEST LAFAYETTE — A familiar face is returning to lead the Harrison girls basketball program, bringing a proven track record of success and a deep connection to the community.
Amie Anthrop, who previously coached the Raiders from 2016 to 2018, is set to take the reins once again, pending Tippecanoe School Corp. board approval. She replaces Rush McColley, who stepped down last month after succeeding Anthrop in 2018.
Anthrop's coaching resume is impressive. Over nine seasons as a head coach at Fountain Central and Clinton Prairie, she amassed a 144-65 record and led both programs to sectional titles. During her two seasons with Harrison, she went 33-15, showcasing her ability to build competitive teams quickly.
A former point guard at Clinton Prairie, Anthrop later returned to her alma mater for a stint that included a standout 21-3 season and a sectional championship in 2020-21. After stepping away from high school coaching to work with Purdue's softball program, she spent the last three years as the women's basketball director of operations for the Boilermakers.
Anthrop's journey hasn't always been smooth. After a combined 15-28 record in her first two seasons at Fountain Central, she engineered a remarkable turnaround, leading her teams to at least 16 wins in seven consecutive seasons. That resilience and ability to develop talent bodes well for Harrison's future.
For a program looking to regain its footing, Anthrop's return offers stability, experience, and a winning pedigree. Fans can expect a disciplined, fast-paced style of play—and a coach who knows exactly what it takes to succeed at Harrison.
