Fabio Capello has thrown his weight behind a potential summer swap deal between AC Milan and Manchester United involving Joshua Zirkzee, urging the Italian giants to act fast. The legendary former England manager believes the Dutch striker would be a perfect fit for Milan's system under Massimiliano Allegri.

Zirkzee's time at Old Trafford has been a tale of two seasons. After finishing the previous campaign on a high note, the 24-year-old has found himself on the fringes this term. Under recently dismissed head coach Ruben Amorim, minutes were scarce—and that trend has continued under new boss Michael Carrick. In 20 Premier League appearances, Zirkzee has managed just two goals and one assist, starting only four times. Even more telling: he's played a mere 33 minutes since Carrick took the reins.

Interest in the former Bologna standout is heating up in Italy, where he first made his name. Juventus have been linked, but AC Milan are also in the mix—especially with rumors swirling that United could target Rafael Leao in a potential swap deal. Capello, speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, didn't mince words: "If I were Milan, I'd make the swap immediately. I'd see the Dutchman as a much better fit in Max's 3-5-2."

The 79-year-old tactician sees Zirkzee as more than just a goal-scorer. "Zirkzee is someone who gets the team playing and is very good at communicating with his teammates," Capello explained. He even floated the idea of a Zirkzee-Christian Pulisic partnership, calling it "brilliant." With alternatives like Sorloth, Gimenez, or Nkunku in the mix, Capello believes Milan's attack would be in "good shape."

For now, Zirkzee's focus remains on the pitch. United face Liverpool on Sunday, needing just two points from their remaining fixtures to secure Champions League football. But come summer, all eyes will be on whether Milan take Capello's advice and bring the Dutchman back to Serie A.
