The former Iowa State star, who was the second-leading scorer in the country last season, announced on social media on Sunday night that she has committed to transfer to Oklahoma State.
Crooks has dominated at Iowa State during her first three seasons. She averaged 25.8 points per game last season while leading the Cyclones back to the NCAA tournament. Only Vanderbilt’s Mikayla Blakes averaged more points per contest in the country. Crooks also averaged 7.7 rebounds and shot nearly 65% from the field, which was the best in the Big 12.
The Cyclones, however, struggled this past season and largely fell apart at the end of the year despite reaching as high as No. 10 in the national rankings. Crooks, an Iowa native, joined nine other Cyclones teammates in entering the transfer portal after they were knocked out of the NCAA tournament, too.
Iowa State has made it out of the first weekend of the NCAA tournament just once in the past six seasons. The Cyclones went 22-10 last year, the 31st under head coach Bill Fennelly.
Oklahoma State went 24-10 last season, and fell in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Crooks will be the centerpiece of the team next fall as it tries to make it back to the tournament for a fourth time in five years under coach Jacie Hoyt. And, with one more run in college, Crooks has an opportunity to not only dominate the Big 12 once again, but solidify herself as a top pick in the 2027 WNBA draft.
