In college basketball, few things build momentum like a successful team keeping its core together. That's exactly the buzz surrounding the New Mexico Lobos this offseason, as two of their brightest young stars have decided to run it back in Las Cruces.

Freshmen Jake Hall and Uriah Tenette arrived at New Mexico as relative unknowns, following head coach Eric Olen from their initial commitment to UC San Diego. Fast forward one season, and they've transformed into household names in the Mountain West, instrumental in leading the Lobos to an NIT semifinal appearance.

While Tenette quickly announced his return after the season, Hall's decision became a major storyline. After entering the transfer portal and drawing serious interest from blue-blood programs like UConn and Duke, the standout guard made a pivotal call to Coach Olen late Wednesday night. His choice? To stay loyal and return to Albuquerque for his sophomore year.

"I think everybody's just excited," Coach Olen remarked. "This was a big one for us. We go back a long time with Jake." This dual retention is a massive win for the program, instantly positioning New Mexico as an early favorite in the revamped Mountain West conference.

The stats explain the excitement. Hall led the team with 16.4 points per game, showcasing elite shooting by knocking down 117 three-pointers at a blistering 44% clip. Tenette emerged as a vital floor general, averaging 10.6 points and 2.9 assists. Their immediate impact validated Olen's belief that they were ready for the high-major level from day one.

"We knew they were going to be good players," Olen stated, highlighting their proven talent and perfect fit within the Lobos' system. This mutual trust between the players and the coaching staff is the foundation of their success. "To bring them back is a lot about their trust in our staff... We certainly are appreciative of that trust from them."

With a full offseason to develop and build on their impressive freshman campaigns, Hall and Tenette are poised to lead a Lobos squad with soaring expectations. For fans and the team alike, the future in Albuquerque looks incredibly bright.
