This Monday evening at Old Trafford, Manchester United and Leeds United reignite one of English football's most storied and bitter rivalries. More than just a crucial clash for Champions League positioning, it's a fixture steeped in history, passion, and a surprising number of shared heroes.

Despite the fierce animosity between the clubs, a select group of players have dared to cross the Pennines, swapping the red of Manchester for the white of Leeds, or vice-versa. These are the men who have worn both iconic badges, listed here by their number of appearances for Manchester United.

Denis Irwin, the epitome of consistency for United's dominant 90s side, actually began his career in the Leeds academy. He would spend 12 glorious years at Old Trafford, winning every major honor.

Rio Ferdinand's 2002 move from Elland Road to Old Trafford was one of the most contentious transfers in the rivalry's history. The legendary defender had the last laugh, anchoring United's defense to multiple Premier League titles and the 2008 Champions League crown.

Lee Sharpe, a flying winger instrumental in United's early Premier League successes, made the direct switch to Leeds in 1996, spending three seasons at Elland Road after eight trophy-laden years in Manchester.

Brian Greenhoff emerged from the United youth system and spent the 1970s at the club before joining Leeds in 1979 for a three-year stint.

The feisty Scottish midfielder Gordon Strachan represented both clubs over 200 times in the 1980s, making the direct move from Old Trafford to Elland Road in 1988.

While Rio Ferdinand played more games, Eric Cantona is arguably the most iconic figure to bridge this divide. After winning the title with Leeds in 1992, "The King" moved to Manchester and became the catalyst for United's dynasty, winning four Premier League titles in five years before his shock retirement.

Scottish centre-back Gordon McQueen spent six successful seasons at Leeds before making the switch to Lancashire, where he would win an FA Cup and Charity Shield with the Red Devils.

The tough-as-nails forward Joe Jordan also famously played for both sides, with eight seasons at Elland Road cementing his legendary status in the rivalry.
