Everton are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Watford winger Nestory Irankunda, a player once hailed as Australian football's "Golden Boy." According to Sportsboom, the 20-year-old, who joined Watford from Bayern Munich in 2025, has turned heads with his performances in the Championship.

In his debut season, Irankunda has racked up four goals and five assists, showcasing the pace and dribbling ability that made him a standout prospect in Germany. He's a threat from set-pieces too, netting two free-kicks from ten attempts. Averaging 1.6 shots per game, he loves cutting inside and draws fouls by finding space. But there's a catch: four goals in 39 appearances highlight his need to sharpen his finishing, and he can sometimes make the wrong decision under pressure in the final third.

The transfer won't come cheap. Bayern Munich inserted a buy-back clause and a 50% sell-on fee when Irankunda left, so Watford are demanding around £17 million to secure a decent return. That price tag hasn't scared off suitors. Fiorentina scouts have watched him in his last five games, Bayer Leverkusen have added him to their shortlist, and Crystal Palace are keeping tabs. But there's a lingering question: would Irankunda truly solve Everton's attacking woes? Adding another unproven talent feels like repeating a gamble that hasn't paid off. Everton lack width, but that's partly due to a system that doesn't always suit young, instinctive players.
