West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has issued a stark warning that Premier League survival will be a "tough challenge" after his side suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford. The loss leaves the Hammers precariously positioned just two points above 18th-placed Tottenham, who face Aston Villa on Sunday evening.

The east London club had a golden opportunity to stretch their lead over Spurs to five points but instead left empty-handed. Brentford's victory was sealed by an own goal from Konstantinos Mavropanos, a penalty from Igor Thiago, and a late strike by Mikkel Damsgaard, leaving West Ham to rue missed chances.

"It's going to be a big challenge for all of us with the impact of this tough day," Espirito Santo admitted. "We've got to look at other stadiums and see what's going on. But I told the boys: 'Let's keep together. How we react from a bad day like today will keep us alive in the fight.'"

Despite the scoreline, West Ham were not without their opportunities. Taty Castellanos and Cyrencio Summerville both struck the woodwork, and the manager was quick to highlight the positives in his team's performance. "The way we played, the way our game flowed—even though we conceded off a cross—we had bad luck at the other end. We hit the post and created a lot of problems for Brentford," he reflected. "We were positive in the first half, but after the penalty in the second half, we lost composure and organisation, and it became much harder."

As the relegation battle heats up, every point matters. For West Ham, the message is clear: resilience and unity will be their greatest assets in the fight to stay afloat.
