Nathan Eovaldi allowed three hits in seven scoreless innings, Jake Burger homered twice and drove in four runs, and the Texas Rangers snapped the Athletics' five-game winning streak with an 8-1 victory Monday night. Eovaldi (2-2), who entered with a 7.98 ERA through his first three starts, gave up three singles, walked two and struck out seven. Luis Curvelo allowed a run in two innings to close it out.

The Texas Rangers brought their bats and their ace to West Sacramento Monday night, decisively halting the Oakland Athletics' five-game win streak with an 8-1 victory. In a game defined by dominant pitching and explosive power, Nathan Eovaldi and Jake Burger led the charge for the reigning World Series champions.

Eovaldi delivered a masterful performance, silencing an A's lineup that had been rolling. After a rocky start to the season, the veteran right-hander looked every bit the playoff hero, scattering just three singles over seven shutout innings while striking out seven. This commanding outing, needing only 84 pitches, provided the stability the Rangers' rotation has been seeking.

The run support came early and often, courtesy of Jake Burger's prodigious power. The slugging third baseman crushed a three-run homer in the first inning off Luis Severino, immediately putting the A's in a hole. He wasn't done, adding a solo opposite-field shot in the third for his eighth career multi-homer game, finishing with four RBIs.

Texas put the game out of reach in the eighth inning, with Josh Smith lacing a two-run single and Josh Jung driving in two more with a double. The only blemish for the Rangers' staff was a solo homer by Lawrence Butler off reliever Luis Curvelo in the eighth, which also robbed Corey Seager of a home run with a spectacular catch earlier in the game.

This win sets the tone for a key four-game series in the AL West. The Rangers will look to build on this momentum behind left-hander Mackenzie Gore in Tuesday's matchup, while the Athletics aim to restart their winning ways.
