Texas A&M basketball just received excellent news regarding its elite transfer forward, who was not able to compete during the 2025-26 season due to an injury.

Former Indiana forward Mackenzie Mgbako announced on his Instagram that he will return to Texas A&M next season. Mgbako underwent season-ending foot surgery in December and didn't have the opportunity to play a full season for the Aggies. Before the injury occurred, he averaged 10.4 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game through seven contests in his first season donning the Maroon and White uniform.

The 6-foot-9 forward's announcement made Wednesday feel like Christmas for head coach Bucky McMillan, as he builds toward what could be another outstanding season of Aggie hoops in Bryan-College Station in 2026.

After racking up a plethora of accolades with the Hoosiers, including the Big Ten Rookie of the Year as a freshman, the RSCI top-10 recruit entered his name into the NBA draft. Eventually, he decided to hit the portal and was brought in by McMillan.

While his time in Texas A&M's starting lineup was cut short due to his season-ending injury, Mgbako's influence on and off the court made a tremendous impact in the Aggies' NCAA Tournament run. His return to the roster marks one of the most impactful decisions Texas A&M basketball has seen this offseason, as he looks to stay healthy and lead the Aggies to more historic success for the upcoming season. The former McDonald's All-American and Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection has all the intangibles to be one of the best players in college basketball and a potential first-rounder in the draft in 2026.
