In a game that started quietly and ended in a roar, the Comets delivered an offensive masterclass, defeating the Isotopes 12-10 on the road. The victory was powered by a season-high 18-hit attack, with catcher Eliezer Alfonso stealing the spotlight in what is quickly becoming a breakout campaign.

At 26 years old, Alfonso is no stranger to the minor leagues, but 2026 is shaping up to be his finest season yet. In yesterday's slugfest, he tied his career-high with four hits, lifting his batting average to an impressive .312 through 77 at-bats. That's a significant leap from the .247 he posted across two levels last year. While it remains to be seen if he can sustain this hot streak, his production is adding serious depth to the Comets' lineup.

The game was a tale of two halves. After five innings, the score sat at a modest 2-1 in favor of Oklahoma City. Then, the floodgates opened. Both bullpens struggled, turning the contest into a dazzling offensive showcase. Comets starter Christian Romero was the exception, delivering a gem by allowing just one run over six full innings. His performance kept the team within striking distance before the bats erupted.

Offensively, it was a team effort. Seven different batters recorded multi-hit games, and the same number drove in at least one run. While Alfonso earned top honors as the only player on either side with four hits, ninth-hole hitter Zach Ehrhard was equally crucial, smacking two doubles and driving in three runs.

Elsewhere, the Tulsa Drillers learned a hard lesson about control, falling 7-2 to the Cardinals. For the third time this season, left-hander Wyatt Crowell issued at least four walks, inflating his WHIP to a concerning 2.01. The free passes proved costly, as the Cardinals successfully stole five of six bases. Shortstop Elijah Hainline provided Tulsa's lone stolen base, while Kendall George was the only Driller with a multi-hit effort, scoring a run in the loss.

As the season heats up, performances like Alfonso's remind us that every at-bat counts—and the right gear can make all the difference between a single and a four-hit night.
