Eintracht Frankfurt's turbulent season has taken another dramatic turn, with the club deciding to part ways with head coach Albert Riera at the end of the current campaign. According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, the decision was made internally following a series of incidents that spiraled out of control both on and off the pitch.
Riera's tenure started promisingly, with the 44-year-old showing early signs of stability and authority. However, the wheels came off last month when tensions boiled over. The breaking point came during a public outburst over an alleged rift with star striker Jonathan Burkardt, which shattered the calm Riera had initially established.
As Frankfurt looks toward a fresh start, four candidates have already emerged on the club's shortlist for next season. Among them is Matthias Jaissle, who has made a name for himself by winning back-to-back Asian Champions League titles with Al Ahli. The Eagles' future remains bright, though, as they currently sit eighth in the Bundesliga table—just one point behind Europa League semi-finalists SC Freiburg—keeping their hopes of European qualification alive for next season.
