The Eagles were able to trade up three spots with the Dallas Cowboys in order to secure WR Makai Lemon out of USC. There was a run on offensive tackles early in the first round, so Howie Roseman and his staff decided to go a little splashier with their pick at No. 20 — a move that has received mostly positive feedback.
In the trade for the 20th overall pick, the Eagles had to give up picks No. 114 and 137, as well, leaving them with five more picks throughout the rest of the weekend. It’s hard to think that the trade on Thursday is the only one Howie will make during the draft, especially considering he’s admitted that making trades is one of his favorite things to do.
The team will start Day 2 with three picks, one second-rounder and two thirds, with Eagles alumnus Brian Westbrook slated to announce one of the selections. Things could also change quickly with rumors suggesting the team might make a trade with the Vikings on Friday to send Jonathan Greenard to Philadelphia.
