The Duke Blue Devils returned to action Tuesday against the Charlotte 49ers after a three-game sweep of Boston College last weekend.
Duke entered the game looking for their sixth consecutive win, leading the ACC with an 18-3 record.
Right fielder Layla Lamar led the way Tuesday, plating three runs on a first-inning home run. The Blue Devils would score five more over the next three frames to win by way of mercy rule, 8-0 in five innings.
Of Duke's six consecutive wins, this was their third consecutive mercy rule victory, beating Boston College by 10+ runs in each of their past two matchups.
Looking ahead, Duke will host Clemson for a three-game set this weekend in their final series before the ACC Championship begins May 6.
