The Anaheim Ducks are flying high after a dominant 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6, securing their first playoff series win since 2017. With a hot start and a cool finish, the Ducks showed they’re ready to make noise in the Western Conference.

From the opening puck drop, Anaheim came out firing. A three-goal first period set the tone, silencing any lingering nerves from their Game 5 loss in Edmonton. The young Ducks looked poised and prepared, proving that old hockey adage—"nerves are for the unprepared"—couldn’t be more true.

Ryan Poehling, Chris Kreider, Cutter Gauthier, Troy Terry, and Leo Carlsson all found the back of the net for Anaheim. Gauthier’s goal came on the power play, the Ducks’ seventh of the series, while Carlsson added two assists. For Edmonton, Connor Murphy and Vasily Podkolzin scored, and Leon Draisaitl continued his playoff tear with his league-leading 10th point.

In net, Lukas Dostal bounced back strong after being pulled in Game 5, making 21 controlled saves to clinch the series. On the other side, Connor Ingram stopped 25 shots in a losing effort for the Oilers, the back-to-back Western Conference champions.

The Ducks now wait to see who they’ll face in the second round. If Vegas wins their series against Utah, Anaheim will hit the road to face the Golden Knights. If Utah pulls off the comeback, the Ducks will host the Mammoth at Honda Center. Either way, this team is on the rise—and they’re not done yet.
