The Ducks continue their losing ways against the Minnesota Wild and now put their hopes of home ice advantage in the playoffs in jeopardy.

Just 24 hours after securing their first playoff berth in eight years, the Anaheim Ducks faced a stark reminder that the road ahead only gets tougher. With home-ice advantage in the first round on the line, the Ducks traveled to a building that has become a house of horrors: Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul.

Despite controlling play for long stretches and firing 37 shots on goal, the Ducks fell 3-2 to the Minnesota Wild in a game that perfectly encapsulated their recent frustrations. The loss extends a brutal trend for Anaheim, who are now a staggering 1-14-5 in their last 20 meetings with the Wild and have dropped eight of their last nine games overall.

The night started with promise. Mason McTavish snapped a wrist shot past Wild goaltender Jesper Wallstedt on the power play to give the Ducks an early lead, suggesting a change in fortune might be at hand. However, a late first-period goal from Danila Yurov swung the momentum, and the Wild never looked back.

Minnesota took the lead in the second when Hunter Haight, left all alone in the slot, buried his first NHL goal. The Ducks responded with a furious third-period push, outshooting the Wild 15-3, but Wallstedt was a brick wall, making 35 saves to preserve the lead. The dagger came from a familiar face, as former Duck Robby Fabbri poked a loose puck across the goal line for what proved to be the game-winner.

McTavish added a second goal with 44 seconds remaining, but it was a classic case of too little, too late. For a player like McTavish, who has battled through a challenging season, the two-goal night was a bright spot in a frustrating team result. This loss puts significant pressure on the Ducks' final games, as their grip on home-ice advantage in the Pacific Division has now slipped into serious jeopardy.
