Fielding, often the unsung hero in T20 cricket, became LSG's Achilles' heel. Three critical dropped catches swung the momentum firmly in CSK's favor. Prashant Veer was given two lives when he was on just nine, while Urvil Patel, who went on to smash a breathtaking 62, was also spilled. Pant didn't mince words about the impact. "In T20 cricket, the fielding standards have to be up there. Too many catches were dropped, and it's difficult to put it on just one thing," he said after the match.

Despite the disappointment, Pant acknowledged the fight his team showed. "Definitely, it was a great game. Everything was coming out nicely. We knew we were going to put enough pressure on in the powerplay—that's the kind of cricket you look forward to when you practice like that." The captain also praised the character displayed by his side, especially during Urvil Patel's explosive 13-ball half-century, which matched the impact of Josh Inglis's earlier 85-run blitz for LSG.

"That's the only thing. Urvil played a fantastic, unbelievable knock, just like Inglis did for us. We knew someone had to take charge in the powerplay, and Inglis did that for us. For CSK, it was Urvil," Pant noted. "But the team showed a lot of character. Definitely, there are areas we can work on, but kudos to CSK—they held their nerves better than we did."

Reflecting on LSG's total of 203, Pant admitted they had aimed for more after a flying start but understood the conditions slowed scoring once the powerplay ended. "Given how we started, we would have liked to aim for more, but we knew close to 200-210 would be a good target. They got off to a flyer in the powerplay, but we knew it was getting difficult as the ball got older," he explained.
