Donovan Mitchell completely took over in the second half of Game 4, scoring at will to lead the Cavaliers to a 112-103 win over the Pistons.

Donovan Mitchell transformed from spectator to superstar in a single halftime break, erupting for one of the most dominant second-half performances in NBA playoff history to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a crucial 112-103 victory over the Detroit Pistons in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Monday night. The win evened the series at 2-2, shifting all momentum back to Cleveland.

For the first 24 minutes, the seven-time All-Star looked like a shadow of himself. Mitchell managed just four points on 1-of-8 shooting, and the Cavaliers headed into the locker room trailing 56-52. But what followed was pure playoff magic.

Emerging from the break as an entirely different player, the guard nicknamed "Spida" caught fire in spectacular fashion. Mitchell poured in 39 points in the second half alone, tying an NBA playoff record set by Golden State's Eric "Sleepy" Floyd against the Lakers on May 10, 1987. His 21-point third quarter was a masterclass in efficiency, as he connected on 8-of-9 field goals, including two 3-pointers, and sank all three of his free-throw attempts. He followed that with 18 more points in the fourth quarter, shooting 4-of-9 from the field and hitting 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.

At halftime, Mitchell didn't make excuses. He owned his slow start. "I set the tone in Game 3, came downhill in transition, and I don't think I did that one time in the first half," he said. "So, I came in and told the guys, 'That's on me.' So, I tried to make a statement in the second half."

Cleveland rode that energy to open the third quarter with a stunning 23-0 run, flipping the game on its head. While Mitchell was the catalyst, he credited the team's collective effort and game plan for the turnaround. "Just continue to play together and continue to move the ball, so that's where it starts," he explained. "I was also able to get into the paint."

With the series now knotted at two games apiece, the Cavaliers have seized control heading back to Cleveland. If Mitchell can channel even a fraction of that second-half firepower in Game 5, the Pistons will have their hands full containing one of the most explosive scorers in the game today.
