The Miami Dolphins kicked off their 2026 rookie minicamp this weekend in South Florida, bringing together 12 of their 13 draft picks, a host of undrafted free agents, and several tryout hopefuls. Among them is rookie tight end Will Kacmarek, a third-round pick from Ohio State who built his reputation as a powerful blocker in college. But without pads or full contact at this stage, making a lasting impression requires a different approach.
"I think it's just acting like a pro," Kacmarek explained. "Ever since we've gotten here, it's all about being a pro—showing up on time with a notebook, staying ahead of the playbook. Being in front of the line makes a good impression, but when your number's called and you're up next, it's doing the job to the best of your ability."
Kacmarek's journey to Miami is notable: after starting his collegiate career at Ohio, he transferred to Ohio State and won a national championship in his first season with the Buckeyes. That winning mentality is exactly what he hopes to bring to South Florida as he competes for a key role in the Dolphins' tight end room.
This offseason, Kacmarek will battle free-agent signing Ben Sims for the top blocking tight end spot. If he performs well, he could slot in as the second option behind Greg Dulcich, giving Miami a versatile and physical presence in the passing and running game alike. For a rookie making his mark without pads, it's all about the little things—and Kacmarek is proving he's ready to do them right.
