Jeremy Doku is setting his sights on a new level of goal-scoring prowess at Manchester City, and he's looking to a familiar face for inspiration: Raheem Sterling.
The Belgian winger has been on fire lately, netting a stunning opener in City's 3-0 victory over Brentford on Saturday. That goal followed his two strikes in the thrilling 3-3 draw with Everton earlier in the week, giving him three goals in just two matches. But Doku isn't satisfied yet—he's scored only five Premier League goals this season, and he knows there's room to grow.
At 23, Doku has already showcased a knack for spectacular finishes, but he's hungry for the simpler, more clinical goals that turn good players into great ones. "When I look at my goals this season, I don't see one tap-in," Doku told Sky Sports. "But look at Raheem Sterling during his time at City—he'd score five, six, seven tap-ins a season. I want that too."
Doku is determined to add those "easy goals" to his game—the ones where he's in the right place at the right time, tapping in from the second post or running into space. "All my goals are top goals, don't get me wrong," he added, "but if I add those tap-ins, it just boosts my numbers. That's what I need to work on."
It's a smart move for any young forward: mastering the art of being in the right spot. For Doku, it's about evolving from a flashy winger to a consistent goal threat—a lesson he's learning from one of the best.
