The Los Angeles Dodgers may have lost just one game of 162 Tuesday night, but for many fans, it felt bigger than that.
To start, the 3-1 loss was to the hated San Francisco Giants. Compounding matters, the Giants are also in the National League West, so the Dodgers dropped behind the surging San Diego Padres for the division lead due to the intradivision record tiebreaker.
After the loss, Dodgers Nation asked you, the fans, to sound off, and while some of you expressed some concern, others still have confidence in the Boys in Blue.
What are your first reactions to this? hint: Try not to overreact but a reaction is still justified
Fans like Kenneth Wren admitted that Tuesday night was a rough one.
“The fact that we lost to the Giants last night makes it even worse,” he wrote. “That’s Breaks the tie with [the Padres] as well. SMH”
Another commenter, @speedyclaxton21, acknowledged that this doesn’t derail hopes of a three-peat, but the level of play remains below where it should be.
“Eh but it doesn’t really make the s— play okay,” they wrote. “You shouldn’t be losing these game. I know people say oh it’s early and slumps happen but You don’t have to play like s— as a team just because people say it’s okay. Nvr accept anything in April that you wouldn’t accept in Oct.”
Michael Sloniker pointed out that it’s still early in the season.
“My reaction is it’s April 22nd & there are 139 games left. The 2 teams haven’t played each other yet so let’s read too much into it. The Padres are playing well, good for them,” he wrote. “Personally, I’ll start paying close attention to the standings July 1st once teams have gone through the league (especially their own division) a bit more.”Others, like @brisketandboots, noted the Dodgers are facing some issues that should be resolved over the course of the season, such as the injuries to closer Edwin Diaz and other players like pitcher Blake Snell and shortstop Mookie Betts.
Nothing we should react to at this point. They have a real closer, but our offense is still inconsistent, we have more pieces coming off DL

Several of you also let recent history be your guide, with multiple references to the back-to-back World Series championships won by the Dodgers.
“We are back to back Champs! All good. Just waiting for October. Competition is a good thing,” wrote @maxel_matt.
We’ve been here before. We aren’t back to back champions for nothing! We will rise above this. It’s not that big of deal…especially in April.
