Snell has not pitched since Game 7 of the 2025 World Series due to shoulder discomfort.

Big news out of Los Angeles: Blake Snell is finally ready to make his 2026 season debut. According to the California Post, the two-time Cy Young Award winner is set to take the mound this Saturday against the Atlanta Braves—and the timing couldn't be more perfect, as it's also "Blake Snell Bobblehead Day" at the stadium.

Snell hasn't pitched since Game 7 of the 2025 World Series, when he helped the Dodgers clinch the title against the Toronto Blue Jays. That game was his last outing before shoulder discomfort sidelined him—an issue that also cost him four months of the previous season. The left-hander, now 33, has been methodically building back up with three rehab starts, tossing a total of four innings and striking out 10 batters along the way.

It's been a long road to get here. Back in late February, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts admitted that Snell hadn't even thrown from a mound yet, and the odds of him being on the Opening Day roster were "probably zero." But the Dodgers, who signed Snell to a five-year, $182 million deal ahead of the 2025 season, were happy to let him take his time getting back to full strength.

When healthy, Snell is electric. In just 11 regular-season starts last year, he posted a 2.35 ERA with 72 strikeouts over 61.1 innings. He was even better in the postseason, recording a 3.18 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 34 innings across six appearances.

Snell's return adds another weapon to a Dodgers rotation that's already dealing with uncertainty. Right-hander Tyler Glasnow left his Wednesday start against the Houston Astros early with a back injury, and it's unclear if he'll need a stint on the injured list. With Snell back in the mix, Los Angeles has some much-needed depth as they push through the early part of the season.
