The Seattle Seahawks have plenty of reasons to be optimistic heading into the 2026 season, but one question lingers: Do they need another electric edge rusher to complete their championship puzzle?

According to ESPN's Aaron Schatz, the answer is a clear yes. In a recent breakdown of the biggest roster holes for all 32 NFL teams following the draft, Schatz highlighted the Seahawks' rotating edge rusher group as an area that could use reinforcement—especially after the departure of Boye Mafe in free agency.

"The Seahawks like to rotate their edge rushers, as their top four last season all played between 36% and 56% of defensive snaps," Schatz noted. "However, Boye Mafe left in free agency and was never replaced. DeMarcus Lawrence is 34, and Uchenna Nwosu will be 30 in December. Behind those two players and Derick Hall are Patrick O'Connell (one sack in three seasons) and Jared Ivey (only played in two games last season)."

That depth chart leaves a wide-open lane for a veteran addition, and two big names stand out in free agency: Joey Bosa and Jadeveon Clowney. Bosa, who led the NFL in forced fumbles in 2025 with five and added five sacks, brings a disruptive presence that could immediately elevate Seattle's pass rush. Clowney, meanwhile, led all Dallas Cowboys defenders in sacks last season with 8.5, proving he still has plenty left in the tank.

The Seahawks currently have $32.6 million in cap space, giving them the flexibility to make a splash. They've already addressed the position this spring by signing Dante Fowler Jr., but adding another marquee name could put a definitive stamp on their offseason. Clowney is likely to come at a cheaper price tag than Bosa on the open market, but both players have the talent and experience to help Seattle chase another Super Bowl win in 2026.

For a defense that thrives on rotation and pressure, adding one more proven edge rusher could be the move that turns a good roster into a great one.
