Dillon Dingler hit a three-run homer, Keider Montero pitched into the seventh inning and the Detroit Tigers beat the Texas Rangers 5-1 on Saturday night. Dingler's sixth longball of the season was a 443-foot shot to left in the first inning off Kumar Rocker (1-2). Kevin McGonigle and Gleyber Torres each had RBI singles in the second for the Tigers.

DETROIT — The Tigers put on a show Saturday night, combining power at the plate with efficiency on the mound to defeat the Texas Rangers 5-1 at Comerica Park.

Rookie catcher Dillon Dingler set the tone early, crushing a 443-foot three-run homer to left field in the first inning off Rangers starter Kumar Rocker. It was Dingler's sixth home run of the season and gave Detroit all the momentum it needed.

The Tigers kept the pressure on in the second inning, with Kevin McGonigle and Gleyber Torres each driving in runs with singles to extend the lead to 5-0. It was a textbook display of situational hitting that had the home crowd on its feet.

On the mound, Keider Montero delivered his best start of the season. The right-hander pitched 6 2/3 innings on just 85 pitches, allowing only a solo homer to Jake Burger in the fourth inning. Montero scattered five hits, walked two, and struck out two to improve to 2-2 on the year.

Rocker's night was short-lived. The Rangers starter lasted just two innings, giving up five runs on six hits in his shortest outing of 2026. His 43-pitch effort was a stark contrast to Montero's efficiency.

The Tigers also showcased their speed on the bases. Wenceel Pérez and McGonigle stole bases in the second inning, and Pérez swiped another bag in the eighth. The four stolen bases marked Detroit's most in a single game since May 28, 2023.

With the win, the Tigers evened the series and set up a rubber match on Sunday night. The Rangers will send right-hander Jack Leiter (1-2, 5.17 ERA) to the mound, while Detroit has yet to announce its starter.
