Didier Deschamps made his World Cup squad announcement on Thursday night, and as expected, there were few surprises. The 57-year-old manager, who is set to step down after the tournament, appeared on TF1's evening news to reveal his final 26-player roster for Les Bleus.

"I'm well aware that these will be some of my final moments in the job," Deschamps told the press afterward. "It's a special feeling. I'm not one to show my emotions, especially not in press conferences where each word could be misinterpreted, but I'm feeling good. I'm focusing all of my energy on the tournament now."

The squad announcement came with a few notable talking points. Robin Risser was called up as the third-choice goalkeeper, a decision that Deschamps explained was influenced by PSG's Lucas Chevalier not being fully fit and lacking regular playing time at his club. Rumors of a potential return for veteran Hugo Lloris were quickly dismissed by the head coach.

Perhaps the biggest surprises were the inclusions of Crystal Palace duo Jean-Philippe Mateta and Maxence Lacroix, while Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga was left out. "I'm aware that it's tough to take for some players, especially those who are regularly here, but that's the professional side of things," Deschamps acknowledged. "It's not as though we were still thinking it over last night, though. It wasn't that difficult to find, other than Risser."

France will kick off their World Cup campaign against Senegal on June 16, followed by matches against Iraq and Norway in Group I. Before heading to the tournament, Les Bleus have two warm-up fixtures lined up against Ivory Coast and Northern Ireland.

For fans looking to show their support, this is the perfect time to gear up in France's iconic blue jersey—whether you're backing the defending champions or just love the style of Les Bleus on and off the pitch.
