lead after securing 3-0 victory over the Penguins in Game 2 of a first round matchup at PPG PAINTS Arena in Pittsburgh on April 20.

After a scoreless first period, the Flyers got on the scoreboard with a goal by rookie Porter Martone — second of the series for the 19-year-old winger. Soon after, Philadelphia scored a shorthanded goal by forward Garnet Hathaway on a feed from winger Owen Tippett.

In the third, Flyers center Luke Glendening capped off the victory with an empty-net goal.

With the game in hand, the last minute plus of play included a scrum between the two teams along with the ejection of Penguins players Kris Letang and Anthony Mantha each receiving 10-minute misconduct penalties.

Flyers goalie Dan Vladar was spectacular throughout the game, standing on his head for the first two periods that saw the Penguins throw a barrage of shots at the goaltender.

Vladar silenced Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Bryan Rust in the third, making a total of 27 saves in the game to earn his first career playoff shutout.

After scoring his first career playoff goal in Game 1, Martone made history with his second in as many games.

With his goal in Game 2, Martone (19 years, 176 days) became the sixth youngest player to record a goal in each of his first two Stanley Cup playoff games of his career.
