It's been nearly a year since the Dallas Cowboys made the blockbuster decision to trade superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. At the time, the move sent shockwaves through the NFL, leaving fans and analysts alike debating one question: Did the Cowboys win the trade?
Now, with the 2025 season in the rearview mirror, the picture is starting to come into focus. The Cowboys turned the Parsons trade into a significant haul of talent, bringing in defensive stalwarts Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark, along with promising young players Malachi Lawrence, Devin Moore, and LT Overton. And that's not all—their own high draft pick from a tough 2025 campaign landed them star safety Caleb Downs, further bolstering the defense.
So, has Dallas come out on top? According to Cowboys COO Stephen Jones, the answer is a confident yes. In a recent interview on Mad Dog Sports Radio with Adam Schein, Jones shared a "feel-good" review of the move.
"We feel really good about it," Jones said. "Obviously, much respect to Micah, but at the same time, we feel good about what we've added. A guy like Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark—they're alpha players. They bring great leadership to this team. Add a guy like Caleb Downs, who is going to make everyone around him great. I just feel very optimistic that we have the right pieces in place."
Jones went on to explain the philosophy behind the deal. "Ultimately, the decision was that one player is not worth four or five good ones. We feel like that's where we're going to end up here. Certainly, we are putting the pieces together to give us an opportunity to go do what our fans deserve—to try and win the big trophy."
For Cowboys fans still mourning the loss of a generational talent like Parsons, Jones's words offer a reason for optimism. The front office clearly believes in the power of depth and team chemistry over individual star power. With a revamped defense featuring proven veterans and emerging young talent, Dallas is betting big that the sum of these parts will be greater than the whole they gave up.
Whether that bet pays off remains to be seen, but for now, the Cowboys are feeling good about their new-look roster—and that's a sentiment every fan can get behind.
