DeVonta Smith is keeping his eyes on the prize—and that prize is doing his job. The Philadelphia Eagles' standout wide receiver made that crystal clear during his annual Celebrity Softball Game in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he faced questions about the swirling trade rumors surrounding teammate A.J. Brown.

With the June 1 deadline looming—a date that would significantly reduce Brown's dead money hit and potentially open the door for a trade—speculation is heating up. But Smith isn't biting. When asked by The Athletic's Zach Berman about the possibility of becoming the team's unquestioned top receiver if Brown were to be dealt, Smith kept it simple and focused.

"I got a job to do so I plan to go out there and do that," Smith said, staying true to the steady, team-first approach that has defined his career. He also declined to offer any public thoughts on Brown's status, adding, "I just go out there and do my job."

That mindset has served Smith well since the Eagles drafted him in the first round out of Alabama. Over his first three seasons in Philadelphia, he's been nothing short of spectacular: 240 catches for 3,178 yards and 19 touchdowns. He shattered the franchise's rookie receiving record with 916 yards in 2021, surpassing a mark held by DeSean Jackson, and set a single-season record for receptions by an Eagles wide receiver with 95 in 2022.

Smith's current contract, signed in 2023, placed him among the top seven highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL at the time. But as new deals have since pushed him down the list, a contract extension could be on the horizon—one that would solidify his status as Philadelphia's clear No. 1 target. For now, though, Smith is doing what he does best: staying locked in and ready to deliver when his number is called.
