The players the Detroit Lions are targeting in a rumored trade up in Round 1 of the NFL Draft have been revealed in a new report.
Heading into this week’s draft, there has been an unusual amount of trade rumors flying around this year’s event. Since the 2026 quarterback class is weak, there are several teams in the top 10 open to moving down to get more draft assets for this year and 2027. It offers franchises in the teens and 20s the chance to get a better player than they originally expected.
According to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Lions have been “making trade calls” ahead of Round 1 tonight, and he added that “some teams are watching Detroit as a trade-up threat.” However, it was unclear what the team that failed to make the playoffs in 2025 would be looking for that they couldn’t get when they are on the clock at pick 17.
Well, fellow NFL insider Jordan Schultz shed some light on the Lions’ targets on Thursday afternoon. “There seem to be several teams in the teens and 20s looking to make small moves up to secure an OL before the run begins. The Lions are one of those teams,” he wrote on X.
This year, there is no clear cut No. 1 offensive lineman in this year’s class. So, certain offensive line prospects that are going high in one NFL mock draft are going later in others. Either way, the Lions are probably looking to move into the end of the top 10 or the early teens.
At that range they will likely be targeting Georgia’s Monroe Freeling, Utah’s Spencer Fano, Penn State’s Olaivavega Ioane or Miami’s Francis Mauigoa.
