With the Detroit Lions' 2026 draft now a full week in the rearview mirror, the Pride of Detroit staff has had time to dive deep into the scouting reports, analyze Brad Holmes' post-draft commentary, and break down the college film. Now, we're sharing our takes on the Lions' newest additions in a roundtable-style discussion. To kick things off, we're debating our favorite pick from this year's class. (And as a fun bonus, we've linked to last year's predictions so you can see just how right—or wrong—we were.)

For many of us, offensive tackle Miller stood out as the clear favorite. Holmes didn't need to trade away future draft capital to address a critical need along the offensive line—a unit that took a noticeable step back last season. Instead, he let the board come to him on Day 1, and when it did, he landed a player who checks every box in terms of both football character and playing style.

Despite persistent rumors linking the Lions to Kadyn Proctor, he was thankfully off the board when Detroit picked at No. 17. For me, Miller was my 1B option (behind Francis Mauigoa) among first-round tackle prospects. The offensive line was the most pressing position to address, and securing a player with Miller's experience and consistency felt like music to my ears.

There was a real fear that the Lions might overthink things and pass on a tackle in the first round. Instead, they landed a perfect culture and scheme fit without trading up. Miller will technically compete with Larry Borom for the starting right tackle spot, but it would be a major surprise if he doesn't win the job outright. For a team that just parted ways with veteran Taylor Decker, adding Miller is just about the ideal way to replace—and potentially improve upon—that production. It was an easy, obvious choice, and the Lions went for it.

I haven't been shy about my desire to see Miller in Honolulu Blue. He was the perfect combination of talent, fit, and value—and that's why he's my favorite pick of the 2026 draft.
