As the NFL offseason heats up, all eyes are on the Detroit Lions—and one of their brightest stars is sending a clear message: he's more motivated than ever.
After a tough 2025 campaign that saw the Lions stumble to a 9-8 record, miss the playoffs, and finish at the bottom of the NFC North, the sting of disappointment is still fresh. But for wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, that pain has become fuel.
In a recent conversation with ESPN's Eric Woodyard during voluntary offseason workouts—just ahead of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) later this month—the 26-year-old, entering his sixth NFL season, opened up about his mindset.
"I've been excited to get back to work," St. Brown said. "Last year was a disappointing season as a team, and that's how we feel internally. I've been motivated as ever. I feel like I'm motivated every year, but this year, it's different."
Despite the team's struggles, St. Brown continued to shine as one of the league's elite receivers. The 6-foot, 202-pound playmaker hauled in 117 catches for 1,401 yards—good for fifth in the NFL—and added 11 touchdowns. Those numbers also etched his name in the history books: he became just the fourth player ever to record 100-plus receptions and 10-plus touchdown catches in three consecutive seasons.
What's even more encouraging for Lions fans? This is St. Brown's first fully healthy offseason in recent memory. Last year, he was recovering from minor knee surgery, limiting his ability to train. Now, the USC alum is embracing every moment.
"I didn't really have an offseason last year because of surgery, so having a healthy one was huge," he said. "Just training, getting back to the grind, and now being back in Detroit with the guys—OTAs starting up, practices about to begin—we're all excited."
With questions swirling about whether Detroit's championship window is still open heading into 2026, St. Brown isn't fazed. He believes the core that made the Lions a rising contender is still intact.
"Our whole nucleus is still here," he said confidently. "A lot of our best players are still with us and have been with us. We know what we're capable of."
For a Lions team hungry to bounce back, having a motivated, healthy, and history-making receiver leading the charge is exactly the spark they need.
