Could the Minnesota Vikings have found their next game-changing running back? According to recent buzz surrounding the 2026 NFL Draft, Wake Forest standout Demond Claiborne is turning heads with comparisons to a division rival's elite playmaker—and that's got fans in Minneapolis excited.

While early mock drafts had the Vikings targeting running backs like Jonah Coleman or Jadarian Price on Day 2, the organization surprised many by waiting until the sixth round to snag Claiborne. But if the whispers from league insiders are any indication, that patience may pay off in a big way.

The Athletic's Alec Lewis recently shared the high praise on KFAN 100.3, noting that NFL talent evaluators are drawing a compelling comparison. "I have heard people within the NFL, who work and get paid by teams, say to me that he is like Diet Coke De'Von Achane/Jahmyr Gibbs," Lewis revealed. For context, both Achane (Miami Dolphins) and Gibbs (Detroit Lions) are known for their explosive speed and elusiveness—qualities that would be a welcome addition to any backfield.

Claiborne's game mirrors Gibbs' ability to make defenders miss in the open field, bringing instant juice to a Vikings running back room that could use a spark. As training camp approaches, don't be surprised if the rookie quickly climbs the depth chart. With his playmaking potential, Claiborne has a real shot at earning RB2 snaps early and could even challenge for the starting role in his debut season.

For Vikings fans, this "Diet Coke" version of an All-Pro might just be the perfect recipe to energize Minnesota's offense. And for those tracking the latest in NFL gear, Claiborne's arrival is a reminder that the right talent—and the right jersey—can change the game.
